How to record video from the screen in Ubuntu


Hello everyone, if you want to record video from the screen in Ubuntu then you can use an easy-to-use program - SimpleScreenRecorder. Project website - ]]>http://www.maartenbaert.be/simplescreenrecorder/]]> Below you will see how to configure this program.

Add repositories and install the program:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:maarten-baert/simplescreenrecorder
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install simplescreenrecorder

If you are using a 64-bit version of the OS, then you need to add the libraries:

sudo apt-get install simplescreenrecorder-lib:i386

To remove SimpleScreenRecorder from your computer, type:

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:maarten-baert/simplescreenrecorder
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove simplescreenrecorder simplescreenrecorder-lib:i386

After installation, run the program.

Create a new profile, here you can specify which part of the screen to record, the frame rate, whether or not to record the cursor, and also you can choose from which device to record the sound. If you want to record audio from a computer, then you need to select the device with the name - device Monitor.

Save the profile, so that each time do not drive these parameters, go to the next step of settings.

Here we will also create a new profile. You need to specify where to save the video, select the container (I usually select MP4), select the codec (I usually select H.264, and select the codec and the bitrate for the sound.) Save the profile, click Next.

In the last window, you can set hotkeys to control the recording and enable the preview.

Now we press start recording, or we minimize the window and go to the one that we will record and press the hot keys. After the recording is completed, we save the record.
